I love bags. I adore them.
Nothing represents women better than bags! And I like it when someone has chosen something to wear that are comfortable to them, whether it is something you buy from a traditional market in Bali, or an Hermes your husband gave you for your anniversary.
I’ve seen a girl looked totally stunning with a backpack she made for herself, to match her glasses and socks, and I’m so hyped for the fact that her creativity had brought her to such a noble place called ‘confidence’. And confidence, my friend, is the only vehicle you need to impress people. You can’t buy confidence, you must dig into yourself, and when you’ve found it, let it glow..
Oh.. how life would have been much more wonderful if everyone in this world is confident, and confident enough to trust each other. I dream for a better world. You do, too? Of course, who doesn’t. I also dream, and insist to bring this into reality, to lift my fellow Indonesian families to a better prosperity. You don’t need to be a president to do something for your country, because even there is only one person that you help, you can make an impact! Let’s just say you hire a man for a job. If he makes a living, at least he can give better shelter and food for his family. His wife can pay her debts, or his children can reach better future with going to school, and who knows, one day one of his children can lead this country! Imagine if you can hire thousands of people! Millions of children will be well educated, and countless of them, in the future, will continue what you do for them today.
It may seem hard to reach, but it’s not. Take a look at yourself, you might have done it already, you know. Do you have a batik, any kind of batik, at your house? Do you realize how big ‘the batik trend’ have done to our economy? It’s a blast. I have some facts about this to share with. In 2007, the production value of batik reaches Rp. 2,9 billion, including a contribution of USD 138 million in export trade. Great thing about this is, the industry absorbs 800.100 human resources which equals to 2.5% economic raise!
It is really amazing what a fashion trend can do. Something that we thought only as pleasure, can apparently bring positive impact to others who participate behind the scene. It’s a prefect mutual relationship.
Now if you look around, that is exactly what I’m trying to do today. I sketch bags, and some great craftmen in my workshop turn my sketches into reality, in true perfection. We use the best material, we chose the best hand to manufacture the bags, we are very strict in quality control, and last but not least, we present the bag, with our heart, to you. And you know what’s our special menu of the day? We combine our modern bags with traditional Indonesian tenun (weaving), with the hope it will bring the same effect with what batik has done for our country.
So, you know, when you walk out of our booth today, carrying out one of our bags, you must realize that you are carrying a big scenario. Everything in my shop contains a story. A story of hope, love, and the care for other people. It is an awareness that every little thing we do can make a big impact for some other people’s life, and I know if there is anyone who can appreciate something like this, it is someone like you.
It’s been lovely to share with you, I hope we can see more of each other.
